SME Corp appoints MSSB for e-payment

KUALA LUMPUR: SME Corp Malaysia has agreed to appoint
Managepay Services Sdn Bhd (MSSB) as third-party acquirer for the Enabling e-Payment Services for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Microenterprises Programme.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, ManagePay Systems Bhd said its MSSB, its wholly-owned unit, received the letter relating to the appointment yesterday.

"The letter should not be construed as binding and is subject to a formal agreement to be entered into by MSSB and SME Corp which will clearly set out the terms and conditions governing the commercial arrangements and defining the respective roles and responsibilities, rights, obligations and liabilities to be
entered into by both parties," it said.

The Enabling e-Payment Services for SMEs and Microenterprises Programme is a project under the Digital Malaysia initiative aimed to increase the adoption of ePayment among SMEs, it said.

With this initiative, SMEs and microenterprises are being enabled to accept ePayment via means of simplifying the acquisition process and lowering its cost, it said.

It will also accelerate the adoption of ePayment with the distribution of affordable point of sale terminals, it said. -- BERNAMA
