PUNB Launching New Loan Scheme For Bumiputera Entrepreneurs
KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 (Bernama) -- Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) is launching a financing scheme next month to enable Bumiputera entrepreneurs own business premises with an allocation of RM30 million.
Chief Executive Officer Datuk Dzulkifli Fadzilah said PUNB is currently finalising the loan facility.
"We have discussed with two, three banks to cooperate in the new scheme. But lately only one bank is fully committed to this scheme," he told reporters after the launch of the National Retail Symposium (SParK 2015) today.
Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar, PUNB Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam and Bumiputra Retailers Organisation (BRO) President Datuk Khairol Anuar Mohamad Tawi.
Dzulkifli said under the new scheme, Bumiputera entrepreneurs had to only fork out a minimum of five per cent to own a business premise and the balance would be funded by the bank in collaboration with PUNB.
Meanwhile, Mohd Ali said PUNB would continue with its efforts to realise the creation of a successful Bumiputera commercial and industrial community.
He said the national body would formulate several strategic plans that would benefit Bumiputera entrepreneurs.
"Among the strategies are to improve the financing packages and support services provided to the Bumiputera entrepreneurs," he said in his speech.
Besides financing packages and services, PUNB had established BRO to safeguard, encourage and develop Bumiputera interests in the retail industry in the country, said Mohd Ali.
Since its establishement in 1992 to March 31, 2015, PUNB has approved funding of RM2.14 billion to 5,665 companies involving 8,186 Bumiputera entrepreneurs nationwide.
The one-day symposium themed "Braving the Challenges" is organised by PUNB with the cooperation of the BRO.
